EAST WEST SPACE, in collaboration with YUAN MUSEUM (Beijing), presents a curated selection of five Asian artists renowned for their interpretation and vision in the traditional technique of Chinese lacquer.
Their works explore the possibilities of this material across various categories: painting, object, installation, and sculpture. Different forms of creative exploration that converge into a new language within contemporary art.
Through a deep and precise understanding of the inner laws of things, these artists manage to connect seemingly distinct dimensions, projecting links between human beings and lacquer, and between people and the world.

ABOUT THE CURATOR | SONG TAO
A concept that resonates with the art of Eastern lacquer, which curator Song Tao (founder of Yuan Museum) has long championed. Contemporary art and design in China have spent years seeking to reconnect with their traditional materials, techniques, and methods of creation. Natural lacquer is a unique medium of expression in China, deeply rooted in both the physical and the cultural realms, and in perfect harmony with Chinese cultural philosophy.
The curator, Song Tao, will be present during the exhibition to share the history of lacquer and offer in-depth insight into the meaning behind each work.
