In Chinese, "Fang" (方) represents the square, structured, and linear, while "Yuan" (圆) symbolizes the circular, fluid, and organic. “Fang Yuan” embodies the fusion of these opposing concepts, a dynamic balance between structure and freedom, order and fluidity, tradition and innovation.

Curated by Song Tao, the EAST WEST Anniversary Exhibition presents a carefully curated selection of contemporary art and design furniture from both East and West. This showcase creates a unique visual dialogue, where geometric forms, materials, and contrasts merge to generate unexpected harmony.
Song Tao, born in Shanghai in 1969, graduated in 1986 from the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, majoring in graphic design and painting. In 1993, he earned a Master’s degree in Visual Arts from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. In 1994, he founded TAO Gallery, curating exhibitions for numerous contemporary Chinese artists. In 1995, he established Song Tao Design Studio, focusing on art posters, furniture design, bookbinding, and interior design. In 2002, he founded Zizhao Society, becoming China’s first designer brand. In 2009, he founded O-GALLERY. In 2019, he launched YUAN MUSEUM in Beijing, representing renowned domestic and international artists and designers.
