Fragment 08 | SING CHAN

€0.00

Fragment 08 by Sing Chan is a sculptural pendant lamp that transforms illumination into a fluid, spatial gesture. Suspended in the air like a crystalline lantern, the piece is formed by translucent folded planes connected through finely engineered metallic joints. When lit, the inner glow travels across the textured surfaces, creating dynamic, wave-like reflections that animate the surrounding space.

The lamp balances geometric structure with atmospheric softness. Its faceted form appears solid in outline yet luminous in essence, allowing light to expand gently outward while revealing intricate patterns within the material. This duality—precision and poetry, structure and radiance—defines the sculptural identity of Fragment 08.

Functioning simultaneously as a lighting object and a collectible design piece, Fragment 08 elevates the typology of pendant lamps within contemporary interiors. Whether installed individually or as part of a constellation, it introduces a refined, meditative presence that enriches both residential and architectural environments.

About the artist

SING CHAN

Chen Xingyu, designer and founder of SING CHAN DESIGN, was born in Panyu, a once-thriving port now faded by urbanization. His childhood unfolded among hills, rivers, and old workshops of craftsmanship and maintenance—an environment that ignited his fascination with architecture, light, and materiality.

From his studio in Guangzhou, Xingyu explores the relationship between history and contemporary design, questioning the loss of cultural identity amid modernization. His work extends beyond mere functionality; each piece serves as a bridge between civilizations and eras, a response to the evolving spaces we inhabit.

Believing that light is a vessel of memory and form, his approach blends research, material experimentation, and structural precision. His creations—whether lighting, furniture, or sculptural pieces—do not seek to preserve history in a static way but to propel it forward, fostering a continuous dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and avant-garde design.

Sing Chan's works stand as luminous testaments to a philosophy that transcends time. Objects that not only illuminate but also narrate stories, connecting the past, present, and future through design.
