About the artist
MARIA PUJOL
Maria Pujol is a Catalan photographer based in Barcelona whose work explores the spaces we inhabit through an expressive gaze. Her images arise from a fusion of moments, from something deep—her truth—reflecting who she is and her intimate relationship with photography, architecture and the people around her, who inspire her and help her grow. Her creative process is an alignment between her camera and the space she inhabits, where emotion, expressiveness and technique converge.
For Maria, photography has the power to capture the invisible, to translate the inner vibration of volumes and the emotions they awaken. In her series “VIBRA — My Dialogues with the Geometry of the Building,” architecture ceases to be merely a static structure and becomes a living, resonant being that enters into dialogue with the viewer’s gaze. Through her lens, buildings are not just shapes and lines; they become bodies that breathe and beat in time with the light that moves across them. Each image is an encounter, a silent conversation between the space and her gaze that seeks not simply to portray, but to connect deeply with what these places have to say.
Maria returns to techniques learned in the past, but also to the visceral impulse that made her fall in love with photography: the desire to transform the everyday into something sublime, to lose herself in worlds that exist only through her gaze. Each photograph is a complicity, a choreography that gives life to the image. Her work invites us to perceive architecture as a living organism—dynamic and full of mystery—allowing the viewer to discover new dimensions of the ordinary and the self-evident.
VIBRA
“These images arise from a convergence of moments,
from something deep, from my truth, without pretence.
A vibration with photography, with architecture, and above all
with the people I meet along this path who make me grow,
inspire me and empower me.
An alignment between my camera and what I inhabit visually.
Expressiveness, emotion, and architecture come together,
I reconnect with techniques I learned in the past,
with my reason for loving photography,
to feel it without schedules, to linger in it, transforming reality into abstraction
and losing myself in worlds I invent
and that I love to share today.
I feel free and sincere, I set the static in motion
and perceive it as if it were a living entity, it’s visceral, there isn’t much theory…
I am simply there with the building and we get to know one another:
I observe it,
I feel it,
I breathe it,
I walk it,
I listen to it
and a dialogue begins through its materials,
its textures, its rhythm, its light, its relief, its forms, its colors,
its reflections, its refractions, its lines… and we discover one another, it’s a choreography. ”
VIBRA series was selected and exhibited at the Lishui International Photography Festival (China) — one of the most renowned photography events in Asia, highlighting the dialogue between architecture, light and emotion in contemporary art.
