About the artist

ALEJANDRO CUADROS

Alejandro Cuadros is a contemporary visual artist born in Colombia and based in Barcelona. His work centers on figurative paintings that delve into the relationship between human beings and freedom in the modern era, exploring themes of coexistence with various internal facets and the nostalgia of life.

Through continuous introspection, symbolic meanings, and experimentation with diverse materials and surfaces, Cuadros addresses universal and timeless themes such as human existence, internal conflict, and love. His pieces are influenced by both the artistic avant-garde and cultural and historical elements, creating an accessible and relevant language for contemporary audiences.

Cuadros' work arises from an ongoing exploration of mankind's struggle to live in peace, focusing on the relationship between human beings, freedom, and the conditioning of the self. Inspired by Indian philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti, each piece in his series draws from philosophical reflections. Universal symbols serve as a starting point to pose questions to the viewer.

The dove, symbol of peace, acts as the bridge between the artist and the audience, reflecting the body's unruliness, inner conflict, and the connection between the different facets of the individual, as well as the origin of fears. Each work is a documentation of two beings inhabiting the same body, visually representing the internal coexistence between the observer and the observed.
