ITS A MOOD is a sculptural design practice founded by artist and designer Maria Massaad, whose work exists at the intersection of art, furniture, and space. Conceived as an emotional language rather than a purely functional practice, the studio explores how form, material and atmosphere can carry feeling and presence.

Born in Lebanon, Massaad studied Interior Architecture before moving to Barcelona to complete her Master’s degree. Alongside her academic training, she gained hands-on experience through renovation projects rooted in construction and craft. This technical foundation, combined with a strong intuitive drive, led her to develop a deeply material practice focused on working directly with her hands and understanding the expressive potential of matter.

Her work spans wood, clay, resin and digital tools, with microcement emerging as the studio’s signature material. Applied by hand in layered, continuous surfaces, it allows for sculptural forms that feel both architectural and sensorial. Each piece retains traces of time, movement, and touch, shaped through a slow, intuitive process where form is gradually revealed rather than constructed.

Today, ITS A MOOD develops sculptural collectible works and bespoke spatial projects, creating timeless pieces that balance structure and emotion and transform space into an experiential landscape.
